Hello Internet Friends!

It’s been another hot min since my last post where I wrote about my sew-jo coming back after a winter hiatus and while that has held true my ‘blog-jo’ kind of wained (I just didn’t feel like taking pictures which is kinda critical to a sewing/knitting blog) meaning that I have a backlog of projects to share! So to get started on that backlog today I have a recent sewing queue jumper, the Mile End Sweater by ClosetCore Patterns.

When I saw that Heather and her crew were releasing a lounge wear collection I knew it was going to be awesome (all the patterns from ClosetCore are!) and the Mile End sweater was no exception. I really loved the waist band detail on view B which gave this sweater a fun and functional twist as it helps to pull in the oversized fit just enough to keep the sweater from looking bulky. I’m looking forward to one day trying view C with the hood and v-neck, I’m thinking that will be a great post workout sweater for when the world is more back to normal and I can go to barre classes again!

For the fabric I chose this peony filled, organic cotton french terry by See You At Six that I got from with June and Lu Fabrics on Etsy with matching off-white ribbing. I LOVE this print, it just screams spring and I’ve been loving wearing it around while enjoying all of the lovely spring blossoms that Vancouver has to offer. So much spring so little time to enjoy it all! Especially the cherry blossoms which last just long enough to enjoy them for a bit before they disappear for another year.

For sizing I cut a straight size 12 with no modifications! Even the sleeves I left as they were figuring that I could add ‘thumb holes’ if the sleeves ended up too long, but turns out they were perfect for my tiny t-rex arms lol. I somehow got lucky with the print while I was cutting too! I managed to perfectly line up the print on the back yoke and back piece without even trying (of course I forgot to get a picture of it so you’ll have to take my word for it) I don’t think i could have made a more perfect match if I tried! This pattern has so much potential for colour blocking given that the back piece warps around to form part of the front I have a tiny amount of this fabric left so I’ll hoard it for now and see if I can incorporate it into a future colour blocked version, maybe as the back yoke or even as the additional front pocket from view C.
