Spring Susurrus Sweater in the Fall

Hello Internet Friends!

It’s been a hot minute since my last post in October, I hadn’t meant to take a ‘blog break’ but an uptick in migraines and a pinched nerve in my shoulder/neck forced me to slow down and take some time away from my hobbies including blogging. But today I’m back with a fun ‘spring’ sweater that I finally finished in time to wear this fall 😅 This is my version of the Susurrus by Joji Locatelli from Pom Pom Quarterly Issue 32 Spring 2020. This is my second of three patterns from this edition of the magazine, the first being my Aubade sweater and the third being a Solasta pullover that’s still in progress (it’ll probably be ready for spring 2021 at this point 😂) . My love of the patterns in this edition of Pom Pom probably has to do with the theme of this edition, Air, which lead many of the designs to incorporate mohair or mohair equivalents into their designs. Given that I fell in love with all things mohair last fall you can probably see why I would have been instantly drawn to all the patterns in this edition! Hello Internet Friends!

Well, it’s official, the rainy fall season has started here in Vancouver! And with the chilly winds, rain, and occasionally sunny days come all the hand knits that i’ve been quietly making over the last few months of summer/quarantine. Like a lot of other knitters I know my knitting production seemed to increase due to the extra time indoors and, at least for me, the increase in video meetings for work. I honestly find that knitting while in a meeting helps me focus more because my hands are busy meaning that my brain can focus in on what is being discussed. This is especially so for long video calls probably because I’m so used to knitting while watching TV that my brain associates videos with knitting time 😅. I’m hoping that as things very, very, VERY slowly go back to a modified pre-pandemic life I can continue to bring my knitting with me to long meetings without everyone giving me weird looks 😂.

Sweater weather is fast approaching, and while I honestly can’t wait (I have a ton of quarantine knits that I can’t wait to finally wear!) I want to also squeeze every last drop of the sunshine and nice weather before the rainy fall really starts! To help keep the summer vibes going I whipped up this summery Gilbert Top by Helen’s closet and another pair of Lander shorts (this time in a breathable linen) by True Bias patterns.

Hello Internet Friends!

Today I’m sharing another summery make despite it being September already! (Does anyone else feel like this year has simultaneously lasted around 5 years but also feels like we’re only a few months into the year at the same time?) Summer looks like it’s going to stick around for a little longer here in Vancouver, so I took the opportunity to sew up some more super breathable linen projects! I’ve been really loving the linen this summer, we don’t have AC at home so it’s really nice to wear something so breathable while working and while socially distancing around the city, which is how these pictures were taken! Since 2016 Vancouver has hosted a yearly mural fest featuring both local and international artists! I highly recommend checking out the murals (there’s a handy app with a map and info on each one) if you happen to live in Vancouver or plan on visiting (post-pandemic obviously) I would highly recommend taking yourself on a self guided mural walking tour like we did! I’ve noted the artists for each mural in the pictures in the caption of the first image featuring that mural if you want to check out some of these artists further!

Rock Print Viscose Yvonne Playsuit

Hello Internet Friends!

Today I have another summery make! This is my Yvonne playsuit by Republic de Chiffon made in a fab ‘rock print’ from Mind the Maker. I bought this fabric wayyyy back in January and was of two minds as to which pattern to make from it, the Yvonne playsuit or the Ester Pants so I did a quick instagram poll on my stories and the playsuit was the winner! Making the playsuit also meant I could finally use the cute fox buttons I got a while back from Arrow Mountain. I love these buttons and I think they work really well with this pattern and print!
